SPEAKERS AND TOPICS **Dr. Emsley D. Tromp, President of the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten** Covered the local petroleum Industry concerning its viability and stability. Dr Emsley D. Tromp, President of the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten followed, detailing how well Curaçao has fared during the worldwide recession and providing his own take on the viability of the financial institutions, as well as the viability and stability of the local petroleum industry. Dr. Tromp is the President of the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten. He was born on October 9th 1959, studied at the Pennsylvania State University (1984)where he obtained a Ph.D. in Economics. Career History 1984 - 1987 Part-time lecturer University of the Netherlands Antilles, Curaçao 1984-1985 Internal Auditor Shell Curaçao N.V. 1985-present Centrale Bank van Curacao en Sint Maarten (former Bank of the Netherlands Antilles, Curaçao) -Executive Director in charge of Monetary Policy and Supervision of Financial Institutions (1987) -President of the Bank (1991) Other Activities Chairman of the Commission "National Financial Economic Restructure Plan" A blue-ribbon committee appointed by the Government of the N.A. to draft a National Recovery plan with a broad social support (1999) Member of the ”Schulden Commissie”. A committee appointed by the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to analyze and come up with recommendations to deal with the National Debt of the N.A. and Aruba (1995). Negotiated the IMF supported program for the N.A. (1995 and 1997) Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the CEMLA (Center for Monetary Studies of Latin America) (1994 - 1997). Member of the Board of Governors of the University of the N.A.
